Meet 2026 Award Recipient

Brandon Dale

Brandon came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai after graduating from Brown University, where he designed an interdisciplinary course of study spanning chemistry, anthropology, botanical medicine, and drug discovery. He entered the Medical Scientist Training Program at Mount Sinai in 2018, where he pursued both medical training and a PhD in biomedical sciences.

While at Icahn, Brandon served in leadership and mentorship roles across the MSTP community, including as Admissions Committee Chair. His graduate work focused on targeted protein degradation and translational chemical biology, and during his training he coauthored peer-reviewed publications, presented research nationally, and developed a strong interest in perioperative physiology, pharmacology, and anesthesiology.

Outside the lab and hospital, Brandon is a writer, hunter-conservationist, and licensed New York State fly fishing guide. He is the author of Hunting: A New Conversation and co-founder of Kinfolk Hunting Collective, a nonprofit expanding access to hunting, angling, and conservation for underrepresented communities; he also founded Carp in the Park NYC, a guide service introducing people to fly fishing in the heart of New York City.

Brandon would like to thank his family, friends, mentors, attendings, and colleagues at Mount Sinai for their generosity, support, and belief in him throughout this journey. He is especially grateful to his wife and chosen family, and to the many patients from whom he has learned the most.

Brandon will graduate with his MD and PhD degrees and continue his residency training in Anesthesiology at the Mount Sinai Hospital Research Track.
