David came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from Northeastern University, where he majored in Computer Science and Biology. During his undergraduate degree he worked at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research, where his desire to pursue his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences was sparked. He entered the Ph.D. program in 2020.
While at Icahn, David performed research investigating the genetic basis of rare disease in the labs of Professors Yuval Itan and Avner Schlessinger. His work resulted in novel approaches for variant effect prediction using artificial intelligence - integrating broad biological information ranging from structural features of proteins, network-derived interaction data, and more. David’s research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals.
David would like to thank his family, friends, and the many faculty members at Sinai who have made his graduate education an interesting and rewarding experience.
David will graduate with his Ph.D., and continue his research in genetics, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine as a data scientist.
