Dorothy Adu-Amankwah

Dorothy came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from Duke University, where she majored in English. Before attending Icahn, Dorothy completed a Certificate in Theology, Medicine, and Culture (TMC) at Duke Divinity. She entered the MD program in 2021.

While at Icahn, Dorothy served as a student leader in the Academy for Medicine and the Humanities, co-presented at Grand Rounds on best practices in medical humanities, and developed an expressive writing course and booklet for medical student wellness. She volunteered in the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP), the student-run free clinic, as a Mental Health Senior Clinician, engaged in global health and medical humanities research, published four peer-reviewed articles, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dorothy would like to thank her family, friends, mentors and faculty members at Sinai for their unwavering support and commitment. She will graduate with her MD degree and continue her residency training in Psychiatry at Stanford Health Care.
