Evelyn joined the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021, where she studied Economics with a concentration in Healthcare Management and Policy at The Wharton School. She was honored with the Wharton School’s Dean’s Award for Service to the University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia for founding the Shelter Health Outreach Program (SHOP). As part of the winning team of the inaugural Penn Projects for Progress award, she helped expand SHOP’s mission through a project aimed at improving community-centered primary care in Philadelphia.
At Sinai, Evelyn became involved with the East Harlem Health Outreach Partnership (EHHOP) Access to Care Team, volunteering first as a case manager and later serving as Benefits (Insurance) Co-Chair. In her third year, she continued her involvement as a Chronic Care Senior at EHHOP. Dedicated to health policy oriented research, she published a study in 'Neurology' examining disparities in telemedicine utilization among Medicaid beneficiaries with epilepsy following the integration of their care delivery at Mount Sinai. She also developed a health equity framework for epilepsy care, published in 'Epilepsia,' and continues to investigate how insurance status affects access to care, particularly for Medicaid beneficiaries.
Evelyn extends her heartfelt gratitude to her family, friends, and the physicians at ISMMS who supported and inspired her pursuit of neurology. She is especially grateful to Dr. Nathalie Jetté and Dr. Stephen Krieger, whose dedication to teaching and patient care has profoundly shaped the physician she aspires to become.
Evelyn will graduate with her MD and begin her neurology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
