Chinmayi joined the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020, where she studied Sociology and Global Studies. Following graduation, she served as a Behavioral Health Care Manager through the National Health Corps in Pittsburgh, supporting patients with depression and connecting them to mental health resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. She entered Mount Sinai's five-year MD/MPH program in 2021.
At Icahn Mount Sinai, Chinmayi volunteered as a clinic manager for the Remote Evaluation Network within the Mount Sinai Human Rights Program and as a teaching assistant for the Art and Science of Medicine preclinical course. She also discovered her passion for working with older adults and patients with serious illness, which led to her selection for the Medical Student Training in Aging Research (MSTAR) Program, through which she conducted research on advance care planning for patients without family or community support.
During her MPH year, she also took on a lead role across multiple research projects focused on healthy aging and frailty among World Trade Center 9/11 responders, work that united her interests in aging research, environmental health, and public health. She presented her findings at national conferences, including the Society of General Internal Medicine and the American Geriatrics Society, and published her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals. Alongside this research, she completed her MPH capstone project in collaboration with the Mount Sinai World Trade Center Health Program, developing a health booklet highlighting responder stories, health journeys, and provider perspectives 25 years post-9/11.
Chinmayi would like to thank her fiancé, family, and friends for their unwavering love and support. She would also like to express her deep gratitude to her mentors in the Departments of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and Environmental Medicine and Public Health for their guidance, commitment, and for modeling the kind of compassionate physician she aspires to be.
Chinmayi will graduate with her MD/MPH and begin her residency training in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital.
