Meet 2025 Award Recipient

Jennifer Dias

Jennifer Dias came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from Colgate University, where she majored in Biology and Spanish and competed as a Division I Varsity Track and Field athlete. After graduating in 2016, she worked as a research assistant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, developing web-based interventions for women with a history of gestational diabetes.

During her time at Icahn, Jennifer made meaningful contributions to both the medical school and East Harlem communities. In recognition of her efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, she received the Irwin Gelernt, MD Leadership and Community Service Award in 2021. She expanded her scholarship in both quantitative and qualitative research across clinical, academic, and community-based settings. She went on to co-author multiple manuscripts and lead a Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation grant-funded project during an academic gap year, focused on cultivating change management skills to address culture, racism, and bias across 11 medical schools.

Jennifer brings a systems-thinking mindset to her clinical work and is particularly drawn to the organizational and social drivers of institutional change. She will graduate with her MD degree and continue her residency training in Emergency Medicine at Mass General Brigham in Boston, and is eager to grow as a leader in emergency care delivery and envisions pursuing a fellowship in emergency medicine administration in the future.

Jennifer would like to thank her patients, family, mentors, donors, and peers for their unwavering support throughout her journey.

Jennifer Dias is receiving the:

James Felt Award for the Promotion of Social and Racial Justice
