Sunjay Letchuman

Sunjay came to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from Texas A&M University, where he studied business. During his time at Texas A&M, he began publishing health policy research and served as a health policy intern with the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. He entered the MD program in 2022.

While at Icahn Mount Sinai, Sunjay led the Hands-on-Science show on KidZone TV, a state-of-the-art broadcast studio that produces live programming for hospitalized children and their families. He also led a quality improvement project on antibiotic stewardship through the Student High Value Care Committee. After his first year, Sunjay served as a health policy fellow to United States Senator Bill Cassidy and with the United States House Committee on Ways and Means. During his fourth year, he worked on improving childhood immunization rates at the New Orleans Department of Health.

Sunjay would like to thank those in his home state of Louisiana who raised him and inspired him to make a difference both within and beyond his community. He is also grateful to his mentors and friends for making his medical school experience deeply rewarding. Above all, he thanks his family for their unconditional love and support through both his successes and setbacks.

Sunjay will graduate with his MD and continue his training in Anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Brigham - Brigham and Women's Hospital.
